When running them via terminal to see the error output there were all sorts of dconf related errors. These were related to issues in the /run/user/ hierarchy, such as the 1000 directory not being created. When trying to get it and elogind working properly the directories were just getting deleted if created manually.Artix Installation ISO/posts/guides/tech/20260906-artix-on-newer-hardware/Sun, 06 Sep 2026 12:00:00 -0700/posts/guides/tech/20260906-artix-on-newer-hardware/Intro Artix’s installer runs fine on my mid 2010s Macbook Air, but on my early 2020s NovaCustom the Calamares installer was hanging at ‘Gathering System Requirements’ as soon as it opened. Rather than use the CLI installer for doing all the disk encryption and other setup, I chose to resolve these issues so that the environment is as identical as possible to my other laptop. Here’s how I ended up getting around it.
